College Counseling

South Kent School gives ample attention to students in their Fifth and Sixth Form years to find the best match between student and college. The college counseling staff works with boys in individual and group meetings, and offer guidance through the entire college admissions process. Our Fifth Formers are encouraged to meet with representatives of colleges and universities who visit us in the fall and spring. Regular meetings are scheduled with the Director of College Counseling, both in groups and individually. Simultaneously, correspondence and meetings with parents are occurring during the year. We believe that the process of going to college is a partnership between the family, the school, and the boy.

Although we believe our approach will carry a student to a proper choice, the responsibility ultimately rests with the boy. He must direct his efforts and develop the personal confidence to complete the process. When he leaves our Hillside, we want him to be fully comfortable with what he is doing and where he is going. Over the years, this process has given our graduates the strength and self-confidence to make college work for them.
