Tuition Assistance
South Kent School's financial aid program exists to maintain a diverse student body, as we strive to attract students from a variety of cultural, economic and geographic backgrounds. Our financial aid program attempts to alleviate the financial burden for some families.
Financial aid applications are processed for South Kent by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton, New Jersey. SSS provides schools with an analysis of your family's finances and suggests what your contribution should be toward educational expenses. We subscribe to the principles of SSS, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, or gender.
Parents' Financial Statements (PFS) are available from the Admissions Office after November 1, however, we encourage you to consider completing the PFS online by going to www.nais.org/financialaid/sss.
Financial aid applications for new families should be submitted (either online or by mail) to the SSS in Princeton, NJ by February 10. This enables the Financial Aid Committee to determine aid awards at the time of the March 10 acceptance date. Please DO NOT mail your completed PFS to South Kent School.
Be sure to indicate the South Kent School code (7420) in the appropriate blank on the PFS, and to request your own "Family Report."
Mail a photocopy of both parents' signed Federal Tax Return, including 1040's, W-2's, 1099's, and all supporting schedules to the South Kent School Admissions Office. (If your current year return is not yet available, please provide us with your previous year's return initially, though any financial aid award will be contingent upon our receipt and review of your Federal Tax Return by April 15.) If you file for an extension from the IRS, please provide proof of this in lieu of your Federal Tax Return. We pledge to treat these private documents with discretion.
Please use item #32, if needed to fully explain any circled or underlined items on the PFS. It is important that we have a clear understanding of your financial situation in order to properly assess your need. In cases of divorce, each parent is required to complete a PFS, as we consider an independent school education to require the active financial support of both biological parents.
Applications for financial aid must be completed by both new and returning families each year. All awards are reviewed annually to insure that high standards of scholarship and citizenship are maintained.
